Totally agree with this. I think medals and scare are totally temporary, sentiments go a long way. When was the last time we had public screening of non-cricket sport and public cheering for our team? Happened during Sindhu’s match at Central Park, Delhi. Even with 2 medals, achievements by these 3 girls would go a long way. You know what, until today, when I read an NYT article I didn’t know India was one of the top nation in Olympics in field Hockey, that we got gold no less than 8 times. I just knew we are good at hockey but we were among the best, I had no idea. Medals gathering dust in some obscure shelf in some forgotten sportsman’s home make no sense, this euphoria we would remember for at least 2 generations.
